Our Specialized Travel Vaccines

  • Cholera: Cholera is a severe diarrheal disease found in areas with poor sanitation in parts of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. We offer VAXCHORA, a single-dose oral vaccine that provides protection against the most common strain of the cholera bacteria. It is recommended for travelers to areas with active cholera transmission and should be taken at least 10 days before your trip.
  • Japanese Encephalitis: This mosquito-borne viral disease is prevalent across much of Asia and the Western Pacific. Vaccination is recommended for travelers who will be spending a month or more in high-risk areas, especially during the rainy season or if they plan to visit rural regions. The vaccine is typically a two-dose series, with the last dose given at least a week before travel.
  • Rabies: Rabies is a viral disease found worldwide, but it is more common in developing countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. We offer a pre-exposure Rabies vaccine series for travelers who may have close contact with animals, such as veterinarians, animal handlers, or long-term travelers to high-risk areas. The vaccine is administered in a series of two to three doses over several weeks. While pre-exposure vaccination simplifies post-exposure treatment, it is not a substitute for seeking immediate medical attention if bitten by an animal.
  • Typhoid: Typhoid fever is a bacterial infection spread through contaminated food and water. It is a major health concern for travelers to regions with poor sanitation, including the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa. We offer both the oral (live) and injectable (inactivated) typhoid vaccines. The injectable vaccine is a single dose given at least two weeks before travel, while the oral vaccine is a series of four capsules taken over several days.
  • Yellow Fever: This is a mosquito-borne viral disease that is endemic to tropical areas of Africa and Central and South America. The Yellow Fever vaccine is a live vaccine, and it is required for entry into certain countries. A single dose is considered to provide lifelong protection for most people, but some individuals may need a booster. We are a certified Yellow Fever Vaccination Clinic and can provide the required International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP), also known as the “Yellow Card.”
